Charlie Crist calls on Bill Clinton to resign
09/02/2014
In 1998, when Charlie Crist first ran for the U.S. Senate as a Republican candidate against incumbent Democrat Bob Graham, he called for President Bill Clinton to resign because of the Monica Lewinsky fiasco.
During a televised debate with Graham, moderated by the late Tim Russert of NBC, Crist is apparently asked about Clinton's foibles in this snippet from the debate by "Democrat Flashback."
In the clip, Crist says:
"Regrettably, I believe the president has shattered the confidence and trust of the American people. And I think he needs to be accountable for that. That's why I think the best thing he can do for the country is to resign the office of president."
Lots of cheering can be heard after Crist's remarks.
We suspect will not come up - at least among Democrats - on Friday when Clinton is campaigning for Crist in Miami.
