GOP asks where does Charlie Crist live
08/04/2014
Does Charlie Crist really live in a condo in St. Petersburg? Governor Rick Scott's campaign is suggesting that Crist has moved and no one knows where.
Is this just a bit of campaign silliness or has Scott's campaign found another thing to throw the Crist campaign off its stride?
We'll wait for Crist's response. Meanwhile, here's the email from Scott campaign spokesman Matt Moon.
UPDATE: Crist says he lives in a different unit in the same building. Apparently a lot of silliness from the Scott folks.
Good morning,
Last week, the Scott campaign learned through sources in Pinellas County that someone had filed for a Homestead Exemption on the property that Charlie Crist rents in St. Petersburg. (See Attachment 1.)
Odd, we thought. You can’t file a Homestead Exemption on a rental property. (See Florida Statutes, Chapter 196.031.)
Then sources in Pinellas County told us that the reason someone filed the Homestead Exemption is because Crist no longer lives at the address in St. Petersburg (1 Beach Drive, Unit 1905). Could it be? Did Charlie Crist really "leave the 'Burg?"
Well, not according to his voter registration (See Attachment 2.)
Even more odd, we thought. This begs many questions for Charlie Crist:
- When did Charlie Crist move and where does he now live? The apartment he's renting in Fort Lauderdale? Or the place he's renting on Fisher Island near Miami?
- Where is Charlie Crist's official permanent residence? Did he really "leave the 'Burg?" When did he move in relation to the timing of the Homestead Exemption filing?
- Has Charlie Crist failed to change his address with the DMV and with the Supervisor of Elections in a timely fashion? Did he list the wrong address on his qualification papers, including his financial disclosure? (See Florida Statutes, Chapter 97.1031.)
- According to the Pinellas County Supervisor of Elections, Crist is scheduled to receive absentee ballots at the address he no longer lives at. (See Attachment 2.) Why is he still receiving mail there? With the registration books already closed for the primary election, will he have to vote for himself on a provisional ballot?
The biggest question of all: Where in the World is Charlie Crist?

He and the "wife" simply moved into a larger unit, in the same building. Very recent move.
